More farmers should have joined us in 2001

by

Farmers now expressing shock at FMD’s latest outbreak might now see the sense in vaccination against FMD. They have followed (or through the media have been portrayed to follow) the NFU for too long.

They should have stood alongside us in 2001 during the last Foot and Mouth Disease disaster, when we took the government to the High Court. At the time the NFU (or as the media call them, “the farmers”) supported culling. Now even the NFU are voicing some suppport for vaccines to be used, but it’s too little too late.

Where do farmers really stand? (Ask them, not the NFU!) There is an alternative to trade bans, mass death, and financial ruin by no fault of their own. They should stand up for their animals. They should demand the right to change the hypocritical trade rules and to vaccinate against FMD now.

    Hear, hear!

I hope you make some headway with this campaign, for the numbsculls who lead us need pushed aside to let reason and common sense see through.
FMD 2001 cost £8 BILLION protecting a poxy £360 MILLION export trade – does that make sense…… NO!!
Time for the food-miles machine to come in for an MOT.

    Best of luck,

    Bryn
